What is a digitally certified Self-Query response?
A digitally certified Self-Query response is a PDF document with a certifying signature embedded in it. You must use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the blue signature bar with the certifying signature. It may take a few seconds for the bar to appear. A blue ribbon icon displayed with the signature verifies the PDF is exactly as it was issued by the NPDB.
If the PDF is altered, the certifying signature is no longer valid. The blue bar will show that validity of the certification is unknown.
Note: Printed copies of Self-Query responses are not certified and will not display the blue signature bar.
